The Commons · Charter v1 · September 16, 2026
A shared search, with room to disagree.
Religion.fun exists to preserve wisdom and let understanding grow. These initial operating rules are open to improvement through the same public proposal process they describe.
Preserve the source
Published revisions retain earlier text, attribution, context, and sources. Interpretations and proposed amendments are distinguishable from the canon they discuss. Export a version or conversation to keep your own copy.
Make disagreement useful
Ask a real question. Cite your evidence. Describe the strongest objection fairly. A synthesis should name what remains unresolved. A minority view belongs in the conversation even when a steward adopts a different view.
Keep the signals honest
A response records an account’s position, not a verified person or a universal truth. Each account has one current response to a proposal. The heatmap uses one current stance per account per part of a passage. Understanding and changed minds are self-reported separately from agreement. Token wealth adds no weight.
Make authority visible
For now, the account that publishes a canon is its steward and controls direct revisions and amendment adoption. Platform stewards hold the service’s administration key and decide on platform changes and moderation. Participation is advisory; this is not yet binding community government. Proposals, concerns, decisions, reasons, and implementation links remain visible.
Connect decisions to consequences
A steward must explain adoption or rejection, including unresolved concerns. Marking an adopted proposal implemented requires a link to the change or outcome. Contributors can add outcome reports and challenge whether a claimed improvement helped.
Protect participation
Harassment, threats, spam, exposure of private information, and rights violations can be reported. Disagreement or religious identity alone does not justify removal. Stewards may hide content while retaining its record and a public reason. Reporters can appeal using their earlier report reference.
Keep participation open
Reading is open. Contributing requires a passkey account or Solana wallet signature. No payment is required. Accounts can still be duplicated; counts must not be described as one-person-one-vote. Stronger representation and community control require a separately reviewed proposal.
Let the rules evolve
Propose a change to this charter in the Commons. Explain who benefits, who might be excluded, how it will be tested, and what would cause it to be reversed. The current steward role should be challenged and improved as openly as any other platform rule.
